Give every agent a voice your customers will actually like
A character is the person doing the job: their name, avatar, colour, how they respond, up to three voice styles, the model they think with and how hard they think. Build a character once and reuse it across agents, or switch characters from one step to the next.
A closer look at Characters
Same answer, three completely different personalities
Describe how a character should respond and pick up to three voice styles. A friendly concierge, a crisp account manager and a laid-back surf-shop owner can all explain the same return policy, each in a way that fits the brand and the channel.
- Free-form “how to respond” guidance
- Up to three combinable voice styles
- Name, avatar and colour shown across the app
- Characters are shared across all your agents
Message splitting that reads like a person texting
Long paragraphs feel robotic over SMS. Turn on message splitting and the character sends its reply as a few short bubbles, the way people actually text, while email replies stay as one well-formed message.
- Split replies into natural bubbles on SMS and chat
- Email keeps a single, complete reply
- Works with every model and provider
- Configured per character
Hand the conversation to the right specialist
Every agent has a default character, and any step can override it. Let a friendly qualifier open the conversation, then hand over to a precise booking specialist running a faster model, without the contact ever feeling a seam.
- Default character per agent
- Override the character on any step
- Different models and thinking levels per step
- A/B test characters against each other

Characters: common questions
Is a character the same as an agent?
No. An agent is a job flow plus a default character. The character is the voice and brain; the flow is the job.
Can I use my own avatar?
Yes. Pick any avatar for a character; it's shown wherever that character speaks.
Can different steps use different models?
Yes. Override the character on a step and it can bring its own model and thinking level.
Does message splitting affect email?
No. Splitting is for SMS and chat; email replies stay as one message.
