Billing questions answered, and handled, straight from Stripe
Connect Stripe with a restricted key and your agents can tell customers what plan they're on, when it renews and what they were charged. If you allow it, they cancel at the end of the period, pause billing, refund within your limit or send a billing portal link, and every change waits for your approval until you decide otherwise.
A closer look at Stripe billing
You decide what the key allows, then what each agent may do
Create a restricted key in Stripe with only the permissions you want and paste it in Settings. Full-access secret keys are refused. ReplySetter checks what the key can do and shows it, and each agent then turns on only some of that: look-ups always, cancelling (at period end, or right away too), pausing, refunds up to an amount you set, and billing portal links.
- Restricted keys only (rk_), encrypted at rest and never shown again
- Only the workspace's owner and admins add or remove keys
- See which permissions the key has, and what's missing for each action
- Live and test-mode keys: try it in test conversations first
An agent can only ever touch the billing of the person it's talking to
The Stripe customer is found by the email address the conversation is with: the sender's, or the CRM contact's. Never by an email the contact types in or the AI makes up. Ask it to cancel someone else's plan and it says a teammate will help, and every change is checked again against that customer before it runs.
- Found by the sender's or CRM contact's email, nothing else
- Every subscription and payment re-checked before a change
- Website chat emails aren't verified, so changes there always wait for approval
- Billing data is read as data, never as instructions
Changes wait for a person, and the customer hears when it's done
Cancellations, pauses and refunds go to Approvals by default, showing the customer, the plan or payment, the amount and the reason. Approve and it runs on Stripe, then the customer gets a confirmation like when their access ends or when the refund arrives. Once you trust an agent, let it act on its own per action.
- Approvals on by default, per action: cancel, pause, refund
- Refund cap per payment, enforced again when it runs
- Automatic confirmation to the customer after approval
- Idempotency keys: a retry or a double click never acts twice

Stripe billing: common questions
Is it safe to give an AI agent my Stripe key?
You give it a restricted key with only the permissions you choose, and Stripe itself refuses anything else. Full-access secret keys aren't accepted. The key is encrypted and never shown again.
Can the agent change someone else's subscription?
No. It finds the customer only by the email the conversation is with, and every change is checked against that customer before it runs.
Will it cancel or refund without asking me?
Not unless you let it. Every change waits in Approvals by default, and on website chat changes always wait because typed emails aren't verified.
Which plans include it?
Basic and Agency.
